How Technology Has Made The Music Industry Succeed

Music Industry

Let us have a look at the basics. Music as we all are aware hundreds of years ago, has always been the combination of different sounds that becomes pleasant to the ears. As people evolved in the aspect of things being modernized, so did Music. One can not argue to this fact that the music industry has changed.

Technology has shown a lot of people how to create music. Melodious sounds can be produced from the comfort of our homes through the use of equipment or tools which have made its production easier, thereby opening doors of opportunities to even artists who just started (small scale artistes), enabling them to be independent, also giving them access to discover their audience globally without having to sign a record deal which in most cases needs the backing up of a prominent individual in that company. The use of computer programs to download soft-wares which producers utilize to merge sounds can only be made possible through the innovations of technology. Softwares like Wavepad, Audio joiner, Audacity, e.t.c have made it easy to produce songs without any hindrance and in turn, boost the music industry.

In music, there is a term known as MULTITRACK RECORDING ( in simply entails a process where music producers record a piece of a song in separate segments and merge them up). It is less stressful. Before technology became prevalent,  every essential component needed to make a song piece complete must be present at the designated location(the artists, the tools, etc).

However, the narratives have changed since songs can be recorded in different segments and can be merged. A particular singer as long as he /she has the skill rather than the ability to sing different parts can harmonize the different components of the song without necessarily hiring “BACK-UP SINGERS”. This is one of the beauties of Multi-track Recording which can only be achieved through technology.

As humans, we tend not to be perfect irrespective of how meticulous (precise) a music producer can be. There is always a tendency of making /create a sound that is not so perfect or that seems a little off-key. This is where he or she requires a Digital Audio Workstation(DAW)software to help refine the sounds when producing a song. It also helps to tune the sounds thereby making its pitch free from faults, creating no avenue for noticeable mistakes. There are numerous DAW Soft-wares which the internet has to offer to producers. Examples of such would be the likes of Acidpro, Ardour e.t.c

On the part of consumers of Music. Technology has made it very easy for individuals to have virtually free access to songs produced by musicians. People can now access and listen to the music of their choice any time they want and anywhere they might be. Innovations of websites like Spotify, Youtube, Audiomack have made music very accessible and also affordable to people and to the world at large. There were moments or a period in time where discs or vinyl records were sold before people can listen to songs, but that era has been scraped off due to the emergence of modern technologies. Live stream performance has been made possible through the use of the internet.

In conclusion, technology has really helped the music industry succeed by making the production process easy and available to consumers or listeners more accessible.
