Musicians are haulers of inspiration, whether or not we are mindful of it and whether or not they aim to be. The messages musicians release through their art directly impact listeners in prevailing ways. This is especially true of the youth in society, who are still very soft to the world around them. I remember about some years ago sitting in a room with four of my friends, ages eighteen, twenty, and nineteen, when "Let It, Snow! Let It, Snow! Let It, Snow! " By Dean Martin came on the radio. They all started singing every word at the top of their lungs. It began to shock me just how intensely youth are being wedged by the music they listened to, and how much devotion they are paying to the music being played around them.
I have a strong belief that people who really care most about music are the ones that grew up listing to nice, inspiring, top-notch songs that touched them and spoke to them in a considerate way. I remember being in middle school when the music I listened to defined so much of my identity. As professional musicians, it's no doubt that so many can identify with music being a keen agent in shaping the person they are becoming over the years. Thus, in return, it's almost musicians' unspoken job to create a sound that will be amplified to the next generation, impacting them and impacting the society in return.
Impact on our Culture
The popular music of each day reflects the culture of that day. Prints of a certain generation in the lyrics and sound of that time. One recent and almost outrageous example of these kinds of music is "trap" music by hip hop artists which influences the dressing, and communication of most youth these days, now everyone wants to wear nice even though it isn’t the original one, they still go for it, everyone wants to pop drinks in a party just like they see in most music videos. It's a pretty spot-on commentary about the youth and media culture of the day. And in this present age, culture is changing far more rapidly than ever before, reflecting styles of music that are also changing rapidly.
In other words, culture and music flow are always flowing together. What our parents used to dig, kids of today would see it as lame. And in a few years, the music we think is really cool now will probably be outdated. Not that music is not good enough. It's just an illustration, a display of what's continuously changing.
The moral impact of Music on the Society
Morals and behavior, especially in teenagers, aren't completely coxswained by the lyrics they're hearing, because there are so many factors encompassed around moral behavior. However, music can absolutely play a noteworthy role in determining what seems to be right or wrong, because of this, musicians all around the globe need to be wary about the messages that they are including in their songs.
The emotional impact that music added to the Society
This is probably the most direct impact music has on people in society. It makes us feel a certain way. Music sets moods and creates atmospheres. And as humans, we're so behaviorally influenced by the way we feel, some music, when played with, bring out the joy and everyone start dancing and some will keep making you feel weak and down depending on the time or the situation you are in at the moment.
So, in conclusion, music has the power to culturally, morally, and emotionally influence our society. Thus adequate regulation should be to help get the best music out to society and prevent youths from bad behavior.
